Open Call for Projects
The Village of Falconer will open its NY Forward Open Call for Projects on Thursday, August 27, 2026. Community members, business owners, nonprofits, and other eligible project sponsors are encouraged to submit proposals that support downtown revitalization—such as building improvements, public spaces, business development, or cultural initiatives.
Applications will be accepted through Monday, September 28, 2026 at 4:00 PM.

A team member will follow up to provide assistance.
All submissions will be reviewed by the Falconer NY Forward Local Planning Committee (LPC), which will recommend a slate of projects to include in Falconer’s NY Forward Strategic Investment Plan. Recommendations will be based on project feasibility, impact, and alignment with community goals. Projects included in the plan will be considered by New York State for a share of the $4.5 million in NY Forward funding available for transformational Falconer projects.

A few things worth understanding about eligibility and funding before you put together your application.

New construction — expansion, or renovation of commercial, industrial, mixed-use, and multi-family properties
Public improvements — parks, streetscapes, and public spaces
Downtown branding — signage and materials that promote downtown Falconer

Planning activities, operations and maintenance, property acquisition, programming, and costs incurred prior to grant award are not eligible for funding.

To be eligible, projects must be located within the Falconer NY Forward Boundary. The LPC may consider projects located just outside the boundary if those projects are likely to have a transformative impact on downtown Falconer. If your project is located outside the boundary, you will be asked to provide a justification for why the boundary should be amended to include your project.

Project sponsors must either own the property or have written permission from the property owner to submit an application and be considered for funding.

Grant funds are disbursed only after the project is completed. Applicants will need to finance the project upfront through a bridge loan, owner equity, and/or other funding mechanisms.

Only costs incurred after grant awards have been announced by New York State are eligible for reimbursement. Any costs incurred before then cannot be reimbursed.

Not all projects recommended for funding will receive a grant award. Final funding decisions will be made by New York State.
